CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, this is widely used for creating ceramic restorations. The CEREC system is comprised of a camera, a computer, and a milling machine.
What does CEREC do?
Following an initial dental assessment, an intra oral camera is used to create a 3D scan of your mouth. This scan creates a digital impression and then a 3D model of your mouth and teeth. With this information, we can determine which teeth need treatment. Then, the CEREC machine creates the ceramic restoration in the milling machine, based on the 3D model. Finally, the dentist is able to bond the restoration with the tooth in your mouth.
What are the benefits of CEREC?
Thanks to this technology, restorations are now able to be completed in a very short amount of time in order to provide treatment urgently. Some other benefits to the CEREC process include:
No need for uncomfortable impressions
Less invasive procedure
Requires only 1 appointment providing a final product
Uses biocompatible material (ceramic)
